WINT’s 2022 in Review

2023 is here, and as we plan for what’s ahead, we thought we’d look at all that the last year brought us. 2022 was a tough economic year for so many businesses and individuals. Reading McKinsey’s year in review, it’s obvious that the year was one of upheavals, burdened by war, supply chain interruptions, rising food prices and inflation.

Climate change also became increasingly apparent all over the world, with heat waves around the world that dried up water sources from key reservoirs like Lake Mead and Lake Powell in the US to sections of the Yangtze River in Asia. Among other continents, Europe responded to this by employing strict water conservation regulations in France and the UK, even putting limits on drinking water.

Yes, the year was tough. But though we’re looking at what’s behind us to consider what we’ll do next, we also believe in building on success.

To do it, we’re showcasing all of our highlights with our WINT Year in Review 2022.

Q1 – January to March 2022

We started off our year with a $15 million Series B funding round. Led by New York-based Insight Partners, the round saw participation from leading real estate and construction companies such as Suffolk construction.

Another significant milestone marked the release of our “The Carbon Impact of Water” white paper, in which we detailed both the short and long-term impact of our current water use on sustainability. The research quantifies the carbon impact of water at 7-15 kg CO2 emissions per cubic meter of water consumed. The paper also highlights the fact that roughly 25% of all water in the built environment is wasted, which has had a knock-on effect, increasing water-related energy use and boosting the associated greenhouse emissions.

Q2 – April to June 2022

The quarter began with our nomination to the shortlist for Construction News’ Best Use of Technology award for our work with Mace, a top-5 British general that implemented WINT solutions on its construction sites to prevent water lead damage on their sites.

Perhaps one of our biggest highlights of the year was when ESRT, the owner of the Empire State Building, released its findings showing that we helped them cut consumption by 7.5 million gallons of water and reduce their carbon emissions by over 300 metric tons. With a massive saving of $100,000 per year, they’ve easily returned on investment within a short 3 months of fitting their WINT solution.

Q3 – July to September 2022

What an honor to be ranked in the top 30% on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in America! The list is one of the most prestigious ranking systems of the fastest-growing private companies in America, and presents a unique look at the most successful independent businesses in the country.

This was also the quarter where we were selected for the exclusive Wates Innovation Network (WIN) by the Wates Group. This marketplace of premium sustainable technology solutions is designed to accelerate the transition to net zero by showcasing best-in-class solutions for designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings.

We closed the quarter with our participation in PLANETech, a first-of-its-kind conference showcasing the greatest innovations determined to address the many climate change challenges we face.

Q4 – October to December 2022

The year started to wind down, but our energy stayed high with various tradeshows and speaking engagements. These included the REBUILD Conference in Cincinnati, the Build2perform and London Build tradeshows in London, as well as the IRMI Construction Risk conference in Las Vegas, in which our Chief Strategy Officer Yaron Dycian spoke about how IoT technologies are turning the tide on water leaks in construction sites.

Our CEO Alon Geva was also busy spreading the word about WINT, among others at the Property Insights Conference in November in NYC and the Procore Groundbreak Conference in New Orleans. Judging from the packed rooms and the number of questions following his talk, there is no doubt that water management is a hot topic, and WINT’s advanced technology is leading the market.

Last but not least, we ended the year with the deployment of our systems at two iconic buildings, one in London and another in the Middle East. We won’t say more for now but stay tuned for more info very soon.

Wrap up

Phew, 2022 was crazy busy and so, we’re really proud of everything we achieved. We know that 2023 won’t be any slower and we’re ready for every opportunity that comes our way. Here’s to a happy, sustainable, and productive year to us all!
