Environmental Policy

Wint Water Intelligence exists to eliminate water waste in the built environment. Our AI-powered monitoring and leak detection platform helps commercial and institutional buildings understand and reduce their water consumption in real time. Because the water used in buildings carries significant embedded energy and carbon through treatment, distribution and heating, reducing that waste is a direct contribution to a lower-carbon built environment. We recognise that our greatest environmental impact is delivered through our technology, and that we hold an equal responsibility to manage the impact of our own operations. Wint’s leadership is committed to taking action that supports the global effort to limit warming to 1.5°C, and to reaching net zero across our operations. We will do this by:

• Operating a deliberately low-footprint, remote-first business model, with the majority of our team working remotely, substantially reducing the commuting and office energy that would otherwise accompany a company of our size;
• Operating our satellite offices from shared, professionally managed workspace rather than dedicated premises, benefiting from shared facilities, building-level energy management and efficient lighting;
• Keeping business travel to what is necessary and defaulting to virtual collaboration;
• Favouring providers with credible commitments to renewable energy and efficient operations where we procure services and infrastructure, including the cloud computing that runs our platform.

 

Our long term objectives are to:

• Measure the emissions associated with our operations across the countries in which we work, and use that baseline to set and report reduction targets over time;
• Formalise and strengthen our climate targets as the company grows;
• Help eliminate the water, cost and carbon associated with escape of water in buildings by detecting leaks and abnormal flow the moment they begin, so faults are caught in minutes rather than discovered as damage;
• Reduce the demand for water in the built environment through real-time consumption analytics that make waste visible and actionable;
• Participate in a network of organisations with whom we will share expertise and collaboratively influence industry direction.

We regard this policy as an ongoing programme rather than a fixed statement. We review our commitments regularly in line with the expectations of UKGBC and the wider industry, setting objectives and targets for key activities and developing action plans for improvement.
